Authentic people growing open source code with taste

Journey Book: July 2026

It’s summer time! And it doesn’t rhyme with holidays 🍹

About Code

Earlier this year, in March, we said we started to work on new version of our website with Benjamin who created really nice mock-ups. We finally had time for bringing these mock-ups to life! It’s not quite finish yet, but we’re happy to be able to work on it 👀.

On a Python-side, we worked on a quite old WeasyPrint issue. Please welcome GitHub issue #13: box-shadow!

A pull request has been opened with support of sharp and blur shadows 🥷. Blur shadows aren’t perfect as they rely on gradients and aren’t Gaussian blurs. Feel free to try the box-shadow branch if you want and don’t hesitate to give us some feedback!

Besides that, most of our time has been dedicated to tackle pull requests. This month we closed 45 pull requests on WeasyPrint, some had been merged.

And this is a perfect transition to the "Not About Code" part, the boundary is quite thin here 😄.

Not About Code

This month, we got our 95th pull request opened on WeasyPrint for this year. 95 is the total number of pull requests opened on WeasyPrint in the whole last year 🤯.

As you can imagine, it takes time to process a pull request, to understand it, to review it, to update it and to define if it can be merged or not. So in order to protect our time and to avoid being drowned in more and more pull requests, we decided to limit the number of pull request to one per user.

We also added guidelines for people who wish to contribute in our Code of Conduct.

This increase of contributions is kind of a concern for us, and we talk a lot about that between us. We published an article to talk about these new contributions and contributors, and how they affect us 📰.

To finish this entry on a more light and happy thing, we organized (and of course went to) the monthly Python meetup in Lyon. For the summer, there is no talk, only an excuse to see friends, chat, laugh and meet new people 🫶.

See you next month for another Journey Book entry 💜
