Journey Book: May 2026
What happened during May? Let’s see!
About Code
On the code part, our month was quite dedicated to prepare the release of WeasyPrint v69, which has been released just yesterday.
This release may have been one of the most complicated to prepare, dealing with security reports,
a lot of pull requests and vicious bugs like var() in calc() in var() 🤯.
But it’s finally here 🎉!
For the next main version, we will work on adding support of Notes.
Not About Code
WeasyPrint is now on the top 1000 of PyPI packages. That’s kind of cool 😎.
Early this year, Guillaume has been invited to talk about PDF on the show Underscore_ by Micode, a French YouTuber. The video is now available on YouTube. As you may have guessed, it’s in French, but you can activate English subtitles!
We also went to several events this month:
- Typo Lyon meetup: a French meetup about typography, organised by Rémi Forte. The talk was about the Bye Bye Binary collective that creates post-binary fonts ✨.
- JDLL: a yearly 2-day conference in Lyon about Free Software. This year we went to only meet people and see friends. We also spent time at the keyboards booth and now have a fantanstic new QMx keyboard 🔥.
- Python Lyon meetup: as usual, we organised and went to the Python Lyon monthly meetup 🐍. This time, Emmanuel talked about MicroPython and how to start building our own connected devices.
See you next month for another Journey Book entry 💜
